Scrunchy Tummy
Let me tell you about my dog, ScrunchyTummy.
For weeks now, I thought it was my imagination ...
I most often wear my hair pulled back in a ponytail, by using a hair scrunchy. For the most part, I've had the same scrunchies for over a decade. But recently, they've begun to disappear.
I should have put two and two together. The fact that Riley, the collie, loves to chew on fabric. He is thrilled to destroy towels and socks that are left on the floor, or on towel racks that he can reach (towels, at least ... I dont usually leave socks on the towel racks).
He's learned every spot I keep them. He surfs the house, checking each location. When he spies one, his long collie nose serves as a vaccum cleaner hose ... one quick *SNUFF* and it's gone without a trace or a whisker out of place. Two quick chews, and he swallows. I've blinked repeatedly as I watched this process. I can yell, but it's too late. Deed done. I've tried to teach him right from wrong ... held a scrunchy out for him to sniff ... gotten him to take it (wow! Mommy is offering me a golden treasure!) and then corrected him sternly ... hasnt worked yet. I've sprayed them with bitter apple spray ... but he doesnt keep them in his mouth long enough to seem to mind.
Now, I didnt even think that it might have been him at first. Until he was in his crate one morning, and had just thrown up something particularly dark and sponge-like . An entire undigested scrunchy specimen. Uh. It got thrown out. Which got me to thinking. If he's not digesting them, but they are just passing through his body, then ALL of my scrunchies are either thrown up or POOPED OUT in the backyard somewhere. Oh YAEY!
May they rest in peace.

Wellllll........
Um, Hi!
Ok, yeah, so it's been a few weeks. Life has been uneventful. I just havent felt like writing ... working on the weekends, doing volunteer work during the week, making attempts at organizing the house so I can turn my spare room in to a real spare BEDROOM ... let's see, what's been up lately:
Riley celebrated his 1-year anniversary with the family, the day after Thanksgiving. He's my "rescue collie". He's come a long way in the past year. He's not as shy, meeting new people ... as long as they dont approach him too fast. He's still in love with my boyfriend. It's sickening. He wont listen to me when I call him, he'll dance around and stall and wait for the bf to come too. Riley will climb in his lap, and lean on him, and give him these lovesick ooie gooey starry-eyed gazes.
Willow, the white shepherd, turns 3 years old in a few days. She's my miracle baby. This past year has been so touch-and-go for her ... since I was told she "should be dead" last January. Now, she's off all of her meds, and happy as a puppy. Still cant understand why the cat wont play with her.
Thanksgiving was spent hanging out at a friend's house til I had to come do a few hours of work ... then went to an auction in the middle of Redneckville, Carolina. It was fun, tho. Stayed there til about midnight ... spent two dollars on a flashlight, that was my big expenditure.
I've been pushing myself to lose weight ... have lost 18 pounds at last count. Well, 21 unofficially, but that was before eating on Thanksgiving ... havent weighed in since. *grin* Just diet and exercise... watching my carbs and have cut out sweets. I know it works for me, my doctor knows it works for me, and it's do-able.
Things are going well with the boyfriend, tho I dont get to see him often ... maybe once a week or so. He calls every day tho, to check in. Well, sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. *grin* He's currently working multiple jobs to pay off some debts, so then he can relax and enjoy life a little. He's pushing himself really hard at the moment ... doing some 17 hour days, 80+ hour weeks.
Ummm.... not coming up with anything else on the 'new news' list, off the top of my head. Really ought to get back to work anyway. May write more later, if I think of something to scribble about. d;)
