Work Update
I know y'all have been waiting with bated (baited? bait? fish? ) breath to find out how my job search has been going.
I've known for the past week that I'm going back to my old job at IBM as of the week of August 22nd. I havent said anything because it's still a month away, and the way life seems to go, things can change at any moment ... I flinch every time the phone rings, especially if it's my contract manager Mike. The way I see it, it's not a "done deal" until I walk in the door.
It's not actually my old job ... I'll be doing some of what I was doing before, but some different stuff as well. They're creating some new positions, putting together a new team. I'll be reporting to Stan, one of the other three managers ... but still be doing some work for my old IBM manager, JP, as well.
The quirky thing is, I'll be working weekends ... doing shift work. Thursday 3pm-7pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 7am-7pm. At this point, wont be able to work from home ... so it'll be a bit more structured than before.
But ... same pay, etc. And I'm glad that they (both the contract company, and IBM) have been fighting to get me back when neither have been under any obligation to me in any way ... that's sort of a miracle in itself, in these days when unemployed people are a dime a dozen. *grin*
