Post-It Note
One of the first things I noticed when I got to my desk on Monday, was that nothing had changed. NOTHING. Phone, still in the same position. Cup and salt shaker that I'd left behind, still there. But of all things ...
On the floor under the desk was a post-it note in my handwriting. I used to hang it from my laptop monitor when I'd stepped away from the desk, to remind myself that I'd changed my nickname on our IRC chat line.
When I left, I cleaned out my desk ... threw all of the trash away ... scrubbed the desktop surface ... I cleaned up really well, so I dont know how I missed this post-it. But it's purely poetic that I did.
The Post-It Note simply said "BRB".
Guess I knew I'd "be right back", eventually...

Yup. Sure 'nuff! d;)
Well, actually, I change it to 'Carol-BRB'. But then when I get back to my desk I forget to drop the -BRB ... so for hours, I'll be sitting there in BRB status, and my work peeps will think I'm still away from my desk ... hence, the reminder.

It is poetic, isn't it? Very neat. I've been back to my old desk where I used to work many times since I left there, and the person who's in my old place (who also happens to be one of my best friends) is still finding all sorts of things tucked away behind books, on shelves, waiting in dark corners of desk drawers for a chance at the perfect ambush...
Excellent, that's funny. It seems to have taken forever for you to get back to work since you posted that you were going back..what took so long :-)
