Fire! Fire!

Apparently, last Saturday I'd had a small fire under my house ... sure wish I'd known about it before yesterday (Wednesday). It put itself out. Gotta love heating and cooling. *sigh* The Heating/AC guy couldnt believe I didnt smell it when I came home from work Saturday evening, but I've been sick and was in a particularly bad mood that evening ... it was 80 something degrees, so I got home and opened up the windows ... I honestly dont remember smelling anything unusual.

Now I'm thinking about putting a smoke detector in the crawl space under the house.

Comments:
Sounds like a wise idea - the smoke detector. I'm surprised the kids didn't alert you that something was amiss. Perhaps they were mesmerized by the sunny weather and didn't venture near where the fire was.

Hmm wouldn't you have to somehow rig the outside detector to an inside speaker cause you might not hear it beeping & blaring away? I don't know how that works. And maybe a carbon monoxide detector down there as well. Cause if you're gonna add one detector, why not add two? ;)

Very glad that you, the kids and your house are fine tho!

Oooh that could have been nasty. Glad you are OK

Thnx! Everyone is ok. Finally found the root of the problem, bad leg on the circuit breaker for the furnace. Had another problem with the AC not working, called the same heating/cooling guy ... we tracked it down to the circuit breaker ... called in an electrician ... and found the prob. Fun fun. At least I'm making lots of important home-owner-type contacts (electrician, heating/cooling specialist, etc...).
